Global Research News Hour: Canadian Election 44: No Mice in the Field of Cats, Segment 1

4 weeks 1 day ago
This week on the global research News Hour, with the election behind us now, we’ll plan to take a closer look at the broader patterns facing the country that got little attention in the campaign. We will take a look at Canadian foreign policy with foreign policy critic and activist Yves Engler. We will have a short discussion on the Meng Wanzhou situation with Ken Stone of the Hamilton Coalition to stop the War, and in our final half hour, we are joined by Matthew Ehret , Editor-in-Chief of the Canadian Patriot Review who will discuss with us how the political direction of the party that won, the LIBERALS, saw its patterns shift in a fundamentally different direction during the latter half of the 20th century.

The Sonic Cafe: Sonic Cafe #256/These Are All Last Names, Segment 1

4 weeks 1 day ago
Sonic Café, presenting an Eminence Front, that’s music from the Who. So how you doin? I’m Scott Clark, the guy with two first names, and this is episode 256. This time the Sonic Café features a music mix pulled from the 39 years. Listen for Pleasure with a mind blowing funk tune from 1977, plus music from Muse, Dinosaur Jr., The Kooks, Parquet Courts, the Tragically Hip and many more including a Pink Floyd classic from the Wall. We’ll spin that up about half way through the hour. Plus comedian Chris Strait drops by to point out that a whole bunch of kids today are walking around with two last names. Oh and before I forget, a sugar packed welcome to our newest sponsor, Tasty Toaster Tarts. The sugar-iest treat of them all, Tasty Toaster Tarts… ahh just don’t look in the refrigerator. All that plus a prophetic warning from the Twilight Zones Rod Serling, and of course more, in another headphone friendly mix of intelligent, eclectic music, comedy and pop culture from our little radio café in the Pacific northwest. The closer you listen, the better we sound. We’re the Sonic Café.

The Radio Art Hour: Steve Roden, Nicholas Collins, Segment 1

Welcome to "The Radio Art Hour," a show where art is not just on the radio, but is the radio. "The Radio Art Hour" draws from the Wave Farm Broadcast Radio Art Archive, an online resource that aims to identify, coalesce, and celebrate historical and contemporary international radio artworks made by artists around the world, created specifically for terrestrial AM/FM broadcast, whether it be via commercial, public, community, or independent transmission. Come on a journey with us as radio artists explore broadcast radio space through poetic resuscitations and playful celebrations/subversions of the complex relationship between senders and receivers in this hour of radio about radio as an art form. "The Radio Art Hour" features introductions from Philip Grant and Tom Roe, and from Wave Farm Radio Art Fellows Karen Werner and Jess Speer. The Conet Project's recordings of numbers radio stations serve as interstitial sounds. Go to wavefarm.org for more information about "The Radio Art Hour" and Wave Farm's Radio Art Archive.

"Turn On The News" is the weekly newscast from the fictional Radio Network, with parody radio coverage of the radio and its headlines. Now with computerized news readers, and fewer meddling reporters, plus aggregated reporting, and automated music. Tune in "Turn On The News" each week for the latest news, radio art, and more from our robot reporters, making sure you hear both sides -- good and evil -- every time you "Turn On The News." It is often a mash-up of the week's news, and sometimes a radio news fantasy.
