Interviews, audio from the Patriot Act Forum organized by the Palouse Peace Coalition, held in Moscow, Idaho 8-28-03. No announcer script necessary. (article 1)

When John Ashcroft was touring the country defending the Patriot Act, allowing only TV journalists (not press or radio) access to himself, Moscow’s Palouse Peace Coalition was having a Patriot Act forum of their own. Speaking that night were, Rep. Butch Otter (R-ID), Liz Brandt, member of the American Civil Liberties Union national board of directors, Monica Schurtmann, attorney for Maha al-Hussayyen (Maha is the wife of Sami al-Hussayyen, a Saudi doctoral student at the University of Idaho who has been held since February 2003 in the Canyon County Jail on immigration violation charges), State Senator Gary Schroeder (R-Moscow), and State Rep. Shirley Ringo (D-Moscow).

Included in the program is most of the forum, plus interviews with Liz Brandt, Nabil al-Bulushi, a Saudi UI student and a friend of Sami al-Hussayyen, Dan Boyd of the Palouse Peace Coalition, Idaho Sen. Gary Schroeder, Idaho Rep. Shirley Ringo, and Jeff Fogel of the Center for Constitutional Rights in New York. There’s also some audio from US Attorney General John Ashcroft.

Produced by Leigh Robartes for Radio Free Moscow. Radio Free Moscow is a 100-watt, non-commercial, volunteer-driven low power FM station being built in Moscow, ID to, among other things, serve as a progressive voice in the community. We’ve raised nearly $15,000, and would like to raise a bit more for equipment and overhead before going on the air in the spring.
