Indigenous People of the Americas on Veer Towards Queer/radioActive san Diego July 464.65 MB

On a day when beer swilling 'patriotic' flag wavers are celebrating their love of 'democracy' and 'freedom,' Veer Towards Queer explores the reality of the history, current struggles and resistance of indigenous peoples, including discussion of La Violencia in Guatemala, immigrant indigenous communities with Otomí organizer Marta Frausto of the Otomí Coordination Project and the Zapatistas with Adriana.

Audio Duration: 1 hr 52 min
Marta Frausto Interview: 28:35-1:16:50 with a musical break
Adriana on the Zapatistas 1:21:00-1:35:00

Marta Frausto has a background in Native American studies and urban and regional planning. She is the Native American liason for Caltrans in the Central Valley, works with the Otomí Coordination Project and is a member of the board of directors for the Fresno Native American Health Center.

Adriana works with Schools for Chiapas and is a new DJ with radioActive.
