Taylor Report: Einstein and Racism - The Truth is a Bigger Story Than His Travel Diaries, Segment 1

3 jours 4 heures ago
Recent publication of Einstein's travel diaries from the early 1920s has caused a stir because some of Einstein's words seem to indicate a prejudiced view of Asian societies. But as Fred Jerome points out, Einstein actively opposed racism throughout his life and was in the forefront, with DuBois and Robeson, in fighting to end lynching in America. There is a cultural war around the memory of Einstein in which major media outlets work to hide Einstein's progressive work and socialist opinions.

The Alembic Files: The Anti-Federalists - Part Two, Segment 1

3 jours 13 heures ago
In Letter 2, Centinel cautioned that the fledgling government would engage in power grabs, taking more powers than initially granted. He is concerned that trial by jury will be at risk due to federal courts' overreach. While it could have been argued that Centinel impetuously claimed the Constitution would give federal courts sway over matters between states and their citizens, since that time, appellate court rulings, especially those vacating controversial state ballot initiatives, have added support to Centinel's assertions.

Taylor Report: Freedom Flotilla Gaining Support to End Gaza Blockade, Segment 1

3 jours 18 heures ago
There could not be a more important time to support the Freedom Flotilla than now. Gaza, often called the world's largest open air prison, has recently conducted a massive month-long demonstration, "The March of Return." Palestinians are not going away or backing down in their struggle for self-determination and freedom. Again this year, and with growing international support, the Freedom Flotilla of 4 boats will challenge Israel's illegal blockade of Gaza.

Out of the Woods is an earthy, wires and wood, mostly acoustic program featuring some of the best new and established artists from the worlds of folk, bluegrass, singer-songwriters, alt.country, Americana, classic country, old-time, Celtic, and everything that falls in between. The show is an unpredictable mix flowing like a river between moods, often with an edge or in a melancholy minor key. On occasion, Out of the Woods features interviews and live in-studio performances with national and international touring musicians. Past guests have included artists such as Bela Fleck, Si Kahn, Brown Bird, Dana Robinson, Steve Gillette & Cindy Mangsen, Kate MacLeod, Bill Bourne, Karl Shiflett, Rachel Bissex, Darryl Purpose, Bow Thayer, Cosy Sheridan and many others. Out of the Woods grew out of Jon 'Chip' Colcord's former acoustic programs, The Song Swap and Music For The Mountain, separate folk and bluegrass programs which aired in New Hampshire during the 1990s. As a child, Colcord grew up a ravenous music fan with an ear for both rock and folk. All of these influences converge on Out of the Woods to bring you a mix which is as much on the edge as it is down home. Folk music with a rock 'n' roll soul
