Andrew O'Baoill is our guest to discuss the young community and college radio movement in Ireland. Andrew is a PhD. student at the Institute of Communications Research at the University of Illinois and in the mid-90s he helped to put on the air one of the first college/community radio stations in Ireland, Flirt FM (http://www.flirtfm.nuigalway.ie/) at the University of Galway.

The mediageek radioshow is a weekly critical look at our media environment, with a focus on independent media and the people who make it.

mediageek originates Fridays at 5:30 on community radio WEFT (http://www.weft.org) in Champaign, IL, and is also aired on KQRP in Salida, CA and KRFP in Moscow, ID. Noncommercial radio stations and webcasters are invited to air the mediageek radioshow. Please let us know if you air it.
