An interview with Ahmet Gulkin on the death of Mahmood Bhatti, and the issue of taxi driver safety,

On Tuesday May 2nd a 24 hour spate of robberies and stabbings have left one taxi driver, Mahmood Bhatti, dead from multiple stab wounds on his last fare of the night. Mahmood Bhatti was married with 4 children who are now left without a father. His murder was preventable and is a great loss.

This is the second taxi driver killed over the past eight months in Toronto, while thousands of other drivers attempt to build safe workplaces while facing the gross negligence of the City and of the large brokerages who have long ignored demands for shields to be installed in taxis.

Ahmet Gulkin is a member of the Toronto Coalition of Concerned Taxi Drivers, and contributor to Taxi Post, and member of ACT Taxi.
