This week, TNS has a grim update for our listeners: TNS Radio News – along with the rest of our operation – may soon come to an end due to a severe budget crisis. At our current funding levels, it seems highly unlikely that we would meet our 2006 fundraising goals before our bank account runs empty. So we're attempting one last, massive appeal to our readers and listeners – and anyone who believes in truly independent media – to save The NewStandard before we shut it down at the end of this month.
We have big plans to vastly improve and expand TNS and TNS Radio in the coming months, but those goals may never be realized because we cannot survive unless we add $5,000 in monthly donations to continue to scrape by. Please visit our homepage for more information on how you can contribute, help promote us, and save The NewStandard before it’s too late.
This week on TNS Radio: Advocates sue Ohio over voter registration; Florida's wetlands under assault by developers; Red wolves imperiled by military site; Grassroots groups intervene in police-immigration suit; Pot arrests at all time high.
The NewStandard is an independent hard-news outlet covering domestic issues from a grassroots perspective. In our effort to serve as an antidote to the corporate mass media, we've recently broadened our coverage and launched an audio feature to complement our web-based content.
The five-minute weekly audio segment provides a recap of the week’s major stories and is available via direct download, streaming audio or podcast at our website:

We are currently trying to build up a network of independent and community radio producers, and hope to develop opportunities for mutual promotion via the web and the airwaves. Please consider integrating TNS Radio into your station's regular programming. To learn more about us and about how to bring TNS to your listeners, please email radio@newstandardnews.net
