Dear Radio Friend,
The next 3 Shortwave Reports (April 2, April 9, and April 16) are already up on the web at the usual place- http://www.outfarpress.com/outfarpress/shortwave.shtml in both broadcast and slow modem/ quick download versions. I will be away from home for the next 3 weeks so I preproduced special shows for these weeks. I believe your listeners will find these shows informative and extremely useful. I will return with a Shortwave Report in the usual format on April 23rd. I appreciate your support and that of your listeners.
I doubt that I will be able to send you the next 3 weekly emails which is why I am sending you this information now.

The April 2nd show is called "Beyond the News." This week's show features stories from Radio Netherlands and the Voice of Russia.
From Netherlands- The first story tonight is from EuroQuest. The French people use more prescription drugs than other Europeans, nearly as much as Americans, and this piece looks for the reasons. The second report is from the weekly program called the Research File. Marijuana is not exactly legal in the Netherlands, but it is infamous for its tolerance. This report visits one of the legal marijuana production farms in the Netherlands. The third story is also from a Research File- Norway has accumulated much of its wealth by extracting oil from ther North Sea- but those sources are running out, and there is a move underway to shift oil production to the extremely sensitive Arctic Region. Much like in the US, there is strong public opposition to endangering the fragile Arctic regions.
From Russia- From the VOR's "Commonwealth Update," here are two reports concerning nuclear energy in Russia. The first is a review of nuclear facilities and production in Russia, and their involvement in being watchdogs for the IAEA in the other countries where they built nuclear plants. The second report covers the places where Russia is currently building nuclear power plants- China, India, and Iran. This is an economic boon for Russia who also built Chernobyl.

The April 9th Show is called "Listening To Shortwave At Home." This week's show features stories from the Voice of Russia, China Radio International, and Radio Netherlands.
Russia- First a story from the concerning the upcoming US Presidential campaign and what the rest of the world is concerned with. Then a commentary on the first anniversary of the invasion of Iraq.
From China- US Sec of State Powell has restated that the US will abide by the "One China" policy. At the UN Commission on Human Rights, the Chinese ambassador stressed the right of developing countries to have a voice in multinational trade. Then an analysis of the UN Human Rights Body's condemnation of Israel for the continued use of targeted assasinations.
From Netherlands- Spanish Prime Minister Aznar went on television to defend himself from accusations that he and his government intentionally lied about the perpetrators of the Madrid bombing. Then a press review about the tension over the Taiwan elections.

The April 16th Show is called "Listening Globally On The Web." This week's show features stories from RTE Ireland, Radio Prague, and Radio Deutsche Welle.
From Ireland- In the first story, the US financed spraying of coca crops in Columbia with RoundUp Ultra is affecting Ecuadorians living close to the border. Then a piece on antiwar sentiment in the US.
From Prague- The Czech military had pledged troops to go to Afghanistan and the citizens were divided over the wisdom and ethics of this move.
From Radio Deutsche Welle- From Radio DW's environment show which is now called "Living Planet." The first segment discusses the state of global warming and the Kyoto Protocol. Then briefs on alternative fuel vehicles in the US and the EU's Food Safety Agency has approved the use of a genetically modified rape seed crop if EU countries decide to use them.

All that plus times and frequencies for listening at home. It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me in the last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just want to listen and have a slow connection, try the streaming version- lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application (RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your computer.
This program will be aired on Friday evening at 7pm on KZYX/Z Philo CA, you might be able to stream via http://www.kzyx.org
There are several other streams that work better-  http://www.freakradio.org  Freak Radio Santa Cruz (96.3fm) now streams this program on Friday at 9:30am (PST)
Also check out LavaLamp Radio (Japan)- http://www.radiolavalamp.org
streaming the SWR, check out the schedule.
And the Partytown streams are great and informative- http://www.partytown.com/radio
I hope you'll listen and air this if you're connected with a radio station. I am still wondering how to get financially compensated for the 25 hours I put into this program weekly- any ideas are appreciated. Any stations rebroadcasting this (or listeners) are welcome to donate for production costs. You can do so through the website. Many thanks to those that have donated! No Guilt!
