This is sad news and quite disgraceful. The Ecoliving Centre has been an icon of sustainability education for at least the last 5 years in the eastern suburbs of Sydney and further afield, including presentations at Homebush Olympic Park Gardening Australia events which are hugely popular.
Inner west permaculture trainers have taken classes there, including this writer in past times.
This is definitely a state and even federal election issue. What a travesty. This guy Hilmer, previously at Fairfax with quite ambiguous performance, is well known for free market fundamentalism when models of sustainability are far more important than the holy dollar in the age dangerous global warming.
