Activists in solidarity with the Caravan for Humanity and Against Neoliberalism plan to disrupt the World Economic Forum in Cancun, Mexico
Anti-globalization activists, acting in solidarity with the Zapatista Caravan for Humanity and Against Neoliberalism, leave Mexico City tomorrow (February 23rd) for Cancun, Mexico where they intend to disrupt the meeting of the World Economic Forum. Using direct-action tactics, the group hopes to stop the two-day conference of corporate elite who are meeting, they say, in an on-going effort to establish global economic policies that remove environmental, labor, and locally imposed restrictions on transnational corporations. The activists argue that such neoliberal policy will undermine national sovereignty, destroy local economies, and cause widespread human suffering.
