RADIO FREE SCHOOL

Weekly half hour radio by for and about un-schoolers. This "best of" show celebrates two years of children's voices.

Radio Free School celebrates two years of children's voices on the airwaves! This "best of" show is a mix of the previous year's shows featuring children talking about their experiences with birds, bees, barbies, trees, cars, protest, aboriginal issues, sassing the mayor, reviewing movies, books, interviews with home-schooling writers like Matt Hern, Grace Llewellyn, Naomi Aldort, and others.

Radio Free School features children who learn according to their own design, outside formal education systems, AKA "Un-Schoolers" - each week a show takes up a theme suggested by the children's interest - periodically we interview people who are un-schooling to share insights and support for people seeking alternatives to the compulsory schooling reflex.

The effort to channel the process of growing up according to a preconceived curriculum and method discourages and wastes many of the best human powers to learn and cope....Schooling isolates the young from the older generation and alienates them. (Paul Goodman, 1971)
