This week's show features stories from China Radio International, Radio Netherlands, Radio Havana Cuba, and the Voice of Russia.
From CHINA- Southern China is experiencing the worst drought in over 60 years. The IMF chief economist says that the exchange rate of the Chinese Yuan is not the key to solving the global economic crisis. Historians from China and Japan have made a breakthrough by agreeing on some past events, including the 1937 Nanking Massacre. China is angry over a new US Defense analysis of its military buildup. China is reacting to the US arms sales to Taiwan by postponing bilateral military programs and security talks, and impose sanctions against companies involved in producing the advanced weapons.
From NETHERLANDS- Radio Netherlands has eliminated shortwave broadcasts to North America. The decision is based on their surveys that find very few listeners in N America. If you ever listen to RN on shortwave, please let them know- by email to letters@rnw.nl or send them a letter to Radio Netherlands Worldwide, PO Box 222, 1200JG, Hilversum, The Netherlands.
A European perspective on the row between China and the US over the sale of weapons to Taiwan. Rival political parties in Northern Ireland are poised to make agreements to reduce tensions. An update on the "burka ban" in France. The British inquiry into the Iraq War is unveiling more controversies and deceptions. The Pope has attacked the British government over equality legislation for gay citizens.
From CUBA- The Obama administration is planning to extend a missile shield into the Persian Gulf region. In Japan, protests continue against US military presence in Okinawa. Two Israeli soldiers were disciplined for using white phosphorous bombs in the attack on United nations facilities in Gaza last year. Three US soldiers died in Pakistan, and US drone attacks in Pakistan continued. Large protests were held in Italy against US military base expansions.
From RUSSIA- A commentary on statements by US Pentagon Chief Robert Gates on the need to expand the military actions to more than 2 warfronts.

I was interviewed for an informative weekly radio show Mediageek, available at http://radio.mediageek.net

All that plus times and frequencies for listening at home. It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me in the last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just want to listen and have a slow connection, try the streaming version- lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application (RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your computer.
This program will be aired on Friday afternoon at 4:30pm (PDST) on KZYX/Z Philo CA, you might be able to stream via < http://www.kzyx.org >
There are several other streams that work better- < http://www.freakradio.org >Freak Radio Santa Cruz now streams this program on Friday at 9:00am.(PDST)
The Shortwave Report may be downloaded as a podcast from < feed://www.radio4all.net/responder.php/podcast/podcast.xml?series=outFarpress+presents > or iTunes (search for "shortwave" in podcasts)
Check out the amazing streams at < http://www.radicalradio.org >
And Radio For Peace International at < http://www.rfpi.org >

I hope you'll listen and air this if you're connected with a radio station. I am still wondering how to get financially compensated for the 25 hours I put into this program weekly- any ideas are appreciated. Any stations rebroadcasting this (or listeners) are welcome to donate for production costs. You can do so through the website. Many thanks to those that have donated! No Guilt! (maybe a little)

--"I believe in adequate defense at the coastline and nothing else. If a nation comes over here to fight, then we'll fight. The trouble with America is that when the dollar only earns 6 percent over here, then it gets restless and goes overseas to get 100 percent. Then the flag follows the dollar and the soldiers follow the flag. I wouldn't go to war, as I have done, to protect some lousy investment of the bankers. There are only two things we should fight for. One is the defense of our homes and the other is the Bill of Rights. War for any other reason is simply a racket."
