This week's show features stories from China Radio International, NHK World Radio Japan, Radio Deutsche-Welle, Radio Havana Cuba, and the Voice of Russia.
From CHINA- An earthquake warning system protected some people in Japan before the March 11th event- a similar system is developing in California, but not yet released to the public. The US sale of $5.8 billion in arms to Taiwan has angered the Chinese government. Israel has approved the construction of 1100 settlement homes and annexed more land in the West Bank.
From JAPAN- High densities of hydrogen have built up in the crippled nuclear power plants in Fukushima. There are plans to remove all radioactive materials from homes in Fukushima City. Japan's atomic energy commission is discussing revisions to the national nuclear policy.
From GERMANY- France has announced new austerity measures, including increased taxes on high income earners. In a controversial move, the head of the European Commission has called for more centralization of the 27 member nations, in an effort to overcome the debt crisis.
From CUBA-- A brief review of the Palestinian statehood debate at the UN. Fidel Castro criticized President Obama's speech at the UN as lacking moral authority. Libyan rebels and NATO warplanes continue attacking Sirte with contradictory reports in the media. The Russian Foreign Minister says that the reputation of the UN Security Council has been damaged by the countries attacking Libya.
From RUSSIA- The Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov spoke out at the UN General Assembly about expanding the Security Council and the global importance of the BRICS alliance (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa).

I was interviewed for an informative weekly radio show Mediageek, available at http://radio.mediageek.net

All that plus times and frequencies for listening at home. It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me in the last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just want to listen and have a slow connection, try the streaming version- lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application (RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your computer.
NEW TIME SLOT on KZYX! This program will be aired on Sunday afternoon at 4pm (PDST) on KZYX/Z Philo CA, you might be able to stream via < http://www.kzyx.org >
There are several other streams that work better- < http://www.freakradio.org >Freak Radio Santa Cruz now streams this program on Friday at 9:00am.(PDST)
NEWLY CORRECTED!!! The Shortwave Report may be downloaded as a podcast from < feed://radio.indymedia.org/en/podcast?keys=shortwave++

I hope you'll listen and air this if you're connected with a radio station. I am still wondering how to get financially compensated for the 25 hours I put into this program weekly- any ideas are appreciated. Any stations rebroadcasting this (or listeners) are welcome to donate for production costs. You can do so through the website. Many thanks to those that have donated!

--"I hear all this, you know, “Well, this is class warfare, this is whatever.”—No!
There is nobody in this country who got rich on his own. Nobody.
You built a factory out there—good for you! But I want to be clear.
You moved your goods to market on the roads the rest of us paid for.
You hired workers the rest of us paid to educate.
You were safe in your factory because of police forces and fire forces that the rest of us paid for.
You didn’t have to worry that marauding bands would come and seize everything at your factory, and hire someone to protect against this, because of the work the rest of us did.
Now look, you built a factory and it turned into something terrific, or a great idea—God bless. Keep a big hunk of it.
But part of the underlying social contract is you take a hunk of that and pay forward for the next kid who comes along."
