The confederation of INdigenous Nationalities
of Ecuador is calling for a National Strike and massive
public demonstrations in Ecuador beginning today at
4pm.
This past Saturday, the president of Ecuador, Gustavo Noboa,
instituted a state of emergency in response
to a series large demonstrations about rising
fule prices, indigenious rights, and labor issues.
Confederation of INdigenous Nationalities
of Ecuador has listed a series of demands for the demonstations,
amoung them, that the state of emergency be
lifted and the abolishment of recent economic measures.
CONAIE has also called for the end of US military presence
at the Manta Military Base, and an end to US funding of the Colombian
Military through plan Columbia.
