At least eight Palestinians were killed this morning, all of them under 18, in an Israeli military invasion of Beit Lahia village in Gaza.

In this morning's attack, the victims were mainly high school students on their way to school to take their final exams. Three of those killed were cousins, aged 13, 16 and 17. Eight are confirmed dead, but only six bodies could be identified, as they were all severely mutilated.

Doctors say the number of casualties is likely to increase from those who have lost body parts or are critically injured in the head, chest and back.

The Egyptian Foreign Minister called the ongoing Israeli attacks in Gaza a "provocation" meant to hinder this Sunday's Palestinian presidential elections, and called for a withdrawal of Israeli troops from the area.
