Braodcast Information

A collection of Independent Media Center (IMC) audio teams is planning on

producing three half hour programs about the Free Trade Area of the Americas

and how it effects local communities around the Americas.

On April 20th-22nd the Summit of the Americas is meeting in Quebec City to

discuss the largest free trade zone ever, and activists from all over the

hemisphere will be protesting the meeting and FTAA, both in Quebec and in

their local communities.

These programs will include headlines, news stories, background information

on the FTAA and interviews with activists and community organizers.

The programs will be available on the

internet as MP3s on www.indymedia.org by 4am (EDT) on the following Monday

mornings: the 16th, the 23rd and the 30th of April.  We can also send CDs to

your station.

The first program will include coverage of the demonstrations planned for

Argentina on the weekend of the 7th and 8th as well as a Quebec City and

border info update and substantial background to the FTAA.

The April 23rd program will be comprised of reports on demonstrations around

the Americas on the borders and in local communities with a focus on the

mass actions in Quebec city.

The April 30th program will be comprised of follow up reports on

the demonstrations, jail solidarity updates, arrests and what effects the

demonstrations had on the FTAA and community organizing around the

Americas.

You can use the whole half hour show or take stories from them for your news

shows. The programs are free for broadcast but if you are planning on airing

them we'd like to know.

So far we have people covering border actions in Seattle, Vermont and San

Diego as well as reporters in Quebec City (probably some inside as well as

people covering the protests), people covering what's happening in San

Francisco; and stories from people in Central and South America.

If you are producing stories which you think would fit into one of these

programs we are seeking collaborators.
