This week we present Between The Lines' summary of
under-reported news stories and:

(1)Bush Energy Plan Exacerbates Global Pollution
While Subsidizing White House Allies
in Utilities and Big Oil
Interview by Scott Harris.

Greenpeace is one of many environmental groups that
contend the Bush energy plan employs 19th century
technologies to solve 21st century energy problems.
Kert Davies, Greenpeace USA's Global Warming and Energy
Campaign Coordinator, takes a critical look at the Bush
energy plan.

(2) More Activists Arrested on Vieques as Resistance
Continues Against U.S. Military Presence
on the Puerto Rican Island
Interview by Denise Manzari.

During last month's series of military exercise by the
U.S. Navy in Vieques, a tiny island off the coast of
Puerto Rico, almost 200 people were arrested after
protesting the continued military presence there. Since
the accidental death of 24-year-old civilian security
guard David Sanes by an errant bomb in April 1999,
nationalist outrage throughout Puerto Rico has led
to growing opposition to the training exercises.

Robert Rabin is with the Committee for the Rescue and
Development of Vieques. He speaks of the arrests of those
engaged in civil disobedience.

(3) Supporters of Leonard Peltier Prepare for June Actions
Interview by Melinda Tuhus.

After it was recently revealed that the FBI had withheld
3,000 documents from Timothy McVeigh's lawyers in the
Oklahoma City bombing case -- prompting a postponement
of the admitted terrorist's execution -- members of the
Leonard Peltier Defense Committee have escalated their
calls for the release of the still secret documents in his
case.

Gina Kiala of the Leonard Peltier Defense Committee,
discusses the impact of the denial of clemency on Peltier
and his supporters and their plans for an education and
outreach campaign in June.
