After US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice visited the Palestinian Authority area and Israel to ease tensions, and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minester Ariel Sharon agreed on demolishing vacated settlers’ homes in the Gaza Strip after pullout, violance continued to escalate ,in the morning, Israeli troops shot dead an unarmed 17-year-old Palestinian and wounded another while bird hunting in an area near the Israeli settlement of Netzarim in the Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile, an Israeli settler was killed by the Palestinian gunfire near the West Bank city of Tulkarem. The Islamic Jihad movement claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it came as a response to the ongoing Israeli attacks against Palestinian civilians.
Even so, Islamic Jihad re-affirmed commitment to the "calm" period
declared by all Palestinian factions earlier this year.
