This interview was conducted in late June of 2005 at Centro Aztlan, on
Houston's Eastside. An abbriviated version of this interview is printed in
The Alarm issue #2. Here it is in it's entirety, broken down into 3 parts.
Part #1 looks at the early activist history of Maria including The UFW
grape boycott, Raza Unida party, being president of the University of
Houston Student Council, institutionalized racism in Houston and the birth
of Chican@ black power and feminist movements in Houston
Part #2 goes in depth to The Houston Zapatista solidarity movement over
the years, and looks at the influences zapatismo has had on other social
movements
Part #3 looks at some tools for social transformation, and the potential
in Houston for radical social change
