A Reclaim the Streets party successfully occupied a major Brisbane city road during peak hour traffic for one hour. It resulted in both a McDonalds and KFC being shut down. The party occured in a traditionally poor inner city suburb that is set for gentrification. The RTS was a protest against this gentrification, as well as a celebration of May Day and the National Anarchist Conference currently being held in Brisbane.
