Dear Radio Friend,

The latest Shortwave Report (May 16) is up at the website http://www.outfarpress.com/outfarpress/shortwave.shtml in both broadcast quality 13.2MB) and quickdownload or streaming form (3.3MB) (28:51) It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me in the last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just want to listen and have a slow connection, try the streaming version- lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application (RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your computer.

This program will be aired on Friday evening at 7pm on KZYX/Z Philo CA, you might be able to stream via http://www.kzyx.org

There are several other streams that work better- http://www.freakradio.com Freak Radio Santa Cruz (96.3fm) now streams this program on Friday at 9:00am (PDST)

Also check out LavaLamp Radio (Japan)- http://www.rinku.zaq.ne.jp/bkaec205/

streaming the SWR, check out the schedule.

And the Partytown streams are great and informative- http://www.partytown.com/radio

This week's show features stories from Radio Netherlands, China Radio International, Spanish National Radio, the Voice Of Russia, and Radio Havana Cuba.

From Netherlands- It has been revealed that a British army agent, working undercover in the IRA, was personally responsible for dozens of murders. A British think tank says that Al-Quida is just as dangerous now as it was on 9/11, unaffected by the wars on Iraq and Afghanistan. The Belgian lawsuit against General Tommy Franks for war crimes is unlikely to succeed, but the investigation could create more tension between the US and Europe. Then a legal advisor to the Palestinian authority comments on Israel’s response to the so-called "roadmap to peace for the middle east."

From China- The Iranian President is visiting England and Syria, discussing Hezbollah and the rebuilding of Iraq. Then the Supreme People's Court of China has authorized punishment ranging from 7 years to execution for anyone refusing quarantine or deliberately spreading infectious diseases such as SARS. The number of new cases of SARS has diminished in Beijing, but people are asked to continue wearing masks.

From Spain- The Spanish Deputy Prime Minister said the oil spill from 6 months ago was all fixed, but Greenpeace is among those saying the problem will continue for years. Then a review of middle eastern news from Tuesday.

From Russia- European criticism of the US handling of the war on Iraq and the post-war reconstruction is continuing. The US wants to fire the Secretary General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, because he has stated that the war on Iraq was unjustified and that the US had fabricated so-called evidence before the war.

From Cuba- A Viewpoint from RHC on how the "low-intensity conflicts" in Latin America have evolved into being called a struggle between good and evil, between democracy and terrorism.

All that plus times and frequencies for listening at home. I hope you'll listen and air this if you're connected with a radio station. I am still wondering how to get financially compensated for the 25 hours I put into this program weekly- any ideas are appreciated. Any stations rebroadcasting this (or listeners) are welcome to donate for production costs. You can do so through the website. Many thanks to those that have donated! No Guilt!
