This segment was produced on August 25th 2002. Phillip Ruddock, when he was Minister of Immigration, also barred global justice activist Doyle Canning from re-entry into Australia. Doyle had been doing trainings in Australia to bring information about the tactics and strategies used to organize the 1999 Seattle WTO shutdown protests. This was in advance of the World Economic Forum meetings that were held in Melbourne in September of 2001, which were disrupted as well by large "anti-globalization" protests. We talk with Andrew Lowenthal of No One is Illegal in Australia, and Doyle Canning of the Vermont Mobilization for Global Justice.
