On Sunday 6 November 2005, the Netherlands Centre for Indigenous Peoples (NCIV) will organize a side event to the international Earth Charter +5 Gathering in Amsterdam, the Netherlands from 7 - 9 November (www.earthcharter.org).
The side event “EarthCharter meets Speaking4Earth” focuses on the significance of the Earth Charter Initiative for Indigenous Peoples worldwide.
The event will take place between 2:30 and 5 pm in Cultural Centre De Balie, Kleine-Gartmanplantsoen 10 in Amsterdam.
The afternoon consists of a panel debate “Looking forward: New Strategies to Support Indigenous Peoples” and a presentation of the book “Paradigm Wars: Indigenous Peoples' Resistance to Economic Globalization”. In between one can enjoy indigenous music. Amongst the invited guest speakers are Earth Charter Commissioner Henriette Rasmussen from Greenland, President of the International Forum on Globalization Jerry Mander from the United States and Program Director of the International Forum on Globalization Victor Menotti from the United States.
