this is for luke, but anyone can use this psa to get the word out about the Texas Environmental Leadership Conference.

Activist training conference at the University of Houston on Saturday, September 6, 2003

We all want clean air, clean water and open spaces. But it takes skills and cooperation to win concrete results for our environment, especially when

powerful interests stand in the way of environmental progress.

Come learn from Texas' top environmental researchers, advocates and attorneys the skills necessary to make real social change happen in your

community. Network with other community and student activists. And find out about volunteer, internship and career opportunities in the Texas

environmental movement.

The conference will include workshops on a variety of skills like how to start a community garden or a local recycling effort; testing the quality of our air with little more than a bucket; how to build your organization

through fundraising and volunteer recruitment; how to get your message out to the media and how to lobby decisionmakers; how to use art and music in

your organizing and much more.

The conference will be at the University of Houston on Saturday, September 6, 2003. It's $10 if you register by Wednesday, September 3 and $15 afterwards. To register or for a current list of speakers, go to http://www.texpirg.org.
