The history behind the DC baseball stadium deal is shocking. In 2002 when the current location was proposed it was obvious what was happening. The Mayor had concluded putting the stadium there was the only legal way to close us down. This is our last weekend, in our last club!

We are "in the way" of development, and office towers and condos in DC are not enough to legally use eminent domain. In addition the Mayor had concluded correctly that few Gays were left who would FIGHT to defend our land.

In the 1970's this would have caused a massive riot. During the 1980's so much as an anti-Gay conference in a hotel would routinely bring 1,000 protestors beating on the doors. Now, however, it seems few are left with the courage and the will to resist.

Since 1492, when the first conquistador ship apeared off the coast of the Americas little has changed-those who do not fight to keep their land ALWAYS lose, while those who fight sometimes win, as by definition all Native American tribes still on their ancestral lands south of the Rio Grnade did.

More recently, a 1992 attempt by Mayor Sharon Pratt kelly to take the O and S Capitol st Enclave for a bus garage was defeated after a police raid blew up in the city's face. In 1991 the Mount Pleasant uprising delayed gentrification there for about five yeaars.

YOU ARE NEXT if your home or business stands "in the way" of "progress" or "development!" If you do not fight to save your community Mayor Williams will take it by force. Get together with the people you have known all your life-organize to save your community and your home...
