Sept. 9, 2003 debate featuring Peter Camejo, Arianna Huffington and Cruz Bustamante // Two mp3 files // Pacifica Radio coverage, broadcast live on KPFA, KPFK and KFCF
Republican candidates were missing in action today at a debate sponsored by
New California Media, a group comprised of some 400 print, broadcast and online ethnic/alternative
media organizations. The type of questions and the audience dynamic was
different from what you would normally find with mainstream media
treatment.
You can click on the following links to download mp3 files.
Alternatively, I've added links that use DC-IMC/radio.indymedia.org's streaming
server if you want to stream the mp3 files but can't do that with a standard mp3
file (some browsers have trouble).

The first file has a preliminary discussion with Davey
D from Hard Knock Radio and Sonali
Kolhatkar from KPFK. It also has the
first part of the debate. I lost about 40 seconds of audio in the
transition between files, but you don't miss much of the actual content or
context. The second file has the balance of the debate and then an
extended discussion with Davey D, Kolhatkar, Van
Jones (who was among the first activists to call for Huffington to run and
is now part of the campaign), KPFK's Fidel Rodriquez, a representative from the
Peace and Freedom Party that went by the initials "CT" (sorry, I
missed the full name) and callers from across California.
It's likely the mainstream media will downplay the debate, failing to provide much coverage. But the full audio is now here. It
makes for interesting listening.
