Poor and working people are being forced to pay for the economic crisis. New cuts to social assistance are the most devastating since Mike Harris slashed welfare rates in 1995. We saw this coming and we need to respond. How can welfare recipients, labor unions and social justice activists organize together?

This week, Wikileaks.org released graphic video of the cold-blooded slaughter of Iraqi civilians in 2007, including the two Reuters journalists picture above, Saeed Chmagh and Namir Noor-Eldeen. While confirming the authenticity of the video, the Pentagon’s response is effectively “So what?”, which leads one to imagine that the indiscriminate massacre of non-combatants is rather commonplace.

Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell has graciously allowed Virginians all across the state to spend a few moments remembering the historical significance of the Confederate States of America, declaring April to be an official 'Confederate History Month'

Unfortunately, he forgot to mention that small formality of slavery, an omission he has since apologized for, which is rather like a vicious wife beater apologizing to his neighbor for his wife’s terrible screams.
