Apparently, part of Israel's war againt Hezbollah guerrillas is to bomb power stations in Lebanon. At one oil-burning power station on the coastline, bombed-out heavy oil storage tanks have created an Exxon Valdez type oil spill that has fouled half of the ENTIRE Lebanese coastline!

For fish and birds off the Lebanese coast, Israel has truly become Isra-Hell. Not content with slaughtering 57 civilians in just one village and over 500 Lebanese men, women, and children, Israel now wages war on the very Earth in Lebanon.

Today, protestors in Mexico City shut down the financial district to demand that their votes be counted. Unlike apathetic North Americans, Mexicans are taking to the streets, saying no business as usual until their votes are counted.

Lopez Obrador, the candidate of the poor, consistantly led all polls prior to the election for President in Mexico. Yet somehow Calderon, the candidate of the rich, was declared the winnder by a tiny and much disputed margin.

On the evening of Sun, July 30(same day as the slaughter of 57 civilians in Lebanon), over 50 protestors marched to the home of the Israeli Ambassador at 2916 Chesapeake st NW near the Van Ness Metro.

Over 50 people gathered at the Van Ness Metro, including representatives of almost all the various progressive groups in DC.

When it was announced that we were NOT going to the Embassy but instead to the ambassador's house, the assembled masses erupted in cheers.
