Summer Radio Camp - Build an FM Transmitter

A four day workshop session sponsored by Free Radio Berkeley to teach you how to build FM broadcast transmitters (and other related items such as antennas) and set up a low power (15-100 watt) community radio station capable of covering a broadcast radius between 5 and 15 miles depending on power, terrain and antenna height.

From Beirut was written during the invasion and bombing of Lebanon by the Israeli Army in the summer of 1982. The author, Mahmoud Darwish, is a palestinian refugee who lived through this war which is not unlike todays war on Lebanon. His voice in these times is not only relevant but critical.

The Senate just passed a bill to make it a Federal offense punishable by a year in prison to assist an underage woman in crossign state lines to get an abortion in defiance of parental consent laws.

Of course, this law will be widely defied. Unlike laws regulating what a doctor can do, this is an attempt to deer people who are NOT licensed by a threat of prosecution, an dwill not be complied with.

Today's death toll in Gaza rises to 18, the dead two children, and further 60 injured. Thirteen Israeli soldiers were killed and twelve were injured in ongoing gun battles in Maroun Al Ras, Bint Jbeil, and Eitaroun, in southern Lebanon, meanwhile, the Israeli army continue to take prisoners in the West Bank.
