Labor Rights at Eagle Industries after New Bedford Immigration Raids (v2)

Interview with Maria Gonsalves, leader organizer for UNITE here, about the terrible working conditions at Eagle Industries, formerly known as Michael Bianco Inc., where ICE launched a large immigration raid in March 2007, in New Bedford, Mass.

Since then, labor conditions have anything but worsened at Eagle Industries and there has been continuous intimidation towards union organizers there. The City Council recently passed a resolution to prevent Eagle Industries from closing down before the holiday season.

Most workers are immigrants. Eagle Industries is a federal contractor making military apparel for the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.
