This piece is a reading over music of a statement published by "Breaking the war machine" after a recruiting center was smashed up elsewhere in the US.
The statement reads
"Two years ago, the Bush administration and its allies in the oil industry, the military industrial complex, and the Israel lobby decided to use American soldiers to invade and occupy a Middle Eastern country that represented no threat to the US.
They told us they did it to make us safe from terrorism. Do you feel safer? they did it for profit. For oil. And to launch an imperialist project to "remake" the Middle East into a playground for US corporate interests and provide cover for Israel's campaign to destroy the Palestinian Resistance.
The result? Over 1,450 US dead-most of them low-income youth, denied any opportunity to "make it" in America other than to risk their lives in an imperialist war. $150 Bilion that could have provided education, health care, and a better future for millions of Americans who need it.
So far 100,000 iraqis have died to fulfill Bush's dream of conquest. Food and basic services like water and electricity are scarce.Children are dying of malnutrition while Bush congratulates himself on having "liberated" their country. And a phony election cannot hide the fact that the Iraqi people are in open revolt against the occupation and everything it represents.
These are our brothers and sisters-not the politicians, bankers, and war profiteers who have appointed themselves to decide iraq's future! The Iraqi people have the right to resist. SO DO WE!
Show your resistance in the streets, at the recruitment stations, at the military bases, and at the offices of the Congressment and Senators who voted for the war and keep saying "Yes" to Bush's demands for more money, more weapons, and more time to prolong his aggression! They are the enemy, not the people of Iraq.
The dramatic reading had to be slightly shortened to fit the music, but covers 80% of this.
