Much Ado About Peter Qasim and fellow sufferers:
THE “SOFTENING”
Peter Qasim is Australia's longest-serving immigration detainee. He could soon be freed. Mr Qasim has spent nearly seven years locked up He is now in a psychiatric hospital in Adelaide. A brand new VISA has been released, and now Howard reckons 1000 of asylum seekers will get residency. Oh yay this "softening" is such a beautiful thing...
Well, it seems lovely on the surface - but what does this really mean for Peter Qasim, and others? I asked Mr Fizick from RRAN... What are your thoughts on the RPBV? And anything to say about Howards "softening edge"?
