A Warrior Against the Wars: A Conversation with Iraq War Veteran Ethan McCord

We spend an hour talking with jazz musician, composer and poet, William Parker about his life, his music and his mission to foment revolution and change the world. Parker recently composed a musical accompaniment to "All Played Out," a spoken word piece from Bob Avakian, and Parker talks about what inspired him to do this.

We discuss some 'dear colleague' letters (dealing with Gaza) being circulated by US Representatives, we talk about the surge in Afghanistan, and upcoming Haitian elections. Note: Bob will be in Palestine from Dec 27, so we plan to bring coverage from there during his trip.

The environmental science movement since global unsustainability was discovered has been a lot bigger than most people realize. (As a result of yet another divide and conquer strategy.) It includes an evolutionary approach to psychology, to identify the reasons the decisions people make have led to environmental unsustainability in the first place.

This is the first of 20 chapters of my new audio book. A lot of scientists are saying now how glad they are that President Obama is going to make his political decisions based on evidence (they assume). I write all my books to show how the anti-globalization movement has all the evidence on its side, and to show activists how to prove it using books that are available through the public library.

On Friday November 14th in observance of Veterans Day, Houston Indymedia, Chapter 49 of Iraq Veterans Against the War, Chapter 12 of Veterans for Peace, Rice for Peace and Military Families Speak Out cosponsored screenings of Winter Soldier: Iraq and Afghanistan and Deserter at Rice Cinema.

It's all foreign policy and international affairs this week. Starting with developments in the Israel-Hamas ceasefire, then onto hawkish comments from Israel regarding Iran, the AIPAC-inspired resolutions moving through congress (mandating a blockade of Iran by the US), then briefly looking at developments in Iraq and Bolivia (where USAID has come under criticism for political interference).
